Support Your Neighbors in Clinton Hill

Our neighbors at 15 Quincy Street and environs need our support.  Please sign the attached petition requesting that the Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA) reject a developer’s application for a zoning variance that would permit them to build a ten story building in a height-restricted area at 32 Lexington Avenue in Clinton Hill.

Here’s what you can do:

Letters to the BSA should be addressed as follows:

Hon. Margery Perlmutter

Chairperson

NYC Board of Standards and Appeals

250 Broadway, 29th Floor

New York, NY 10007

Re: BSA Calendar No. 2017-23-BZ and the address of the Premises (32 Lexington Avenue, Brooklyn, New York)

* Come to the BSA hearing on Nov 14th to support your neighbors who would lose access to light and air directly behind the proposed building, and suffer traffic congestion due to the construction of a building on a narrow street without adequate provisions for school bus unloading, parking, etc.

Thank you for your interest and support.

Hello. I am writing to you again because we just launched our annual appeal campaign. If you think it is a cause that your members would be interested in, would you be willing to share this with the members & friends of the Society for Clinton Hill via email?  That is if you yourself are not raising funds at this time for your organization. I realize that we have sent you two asks close to one another…we typically don’t ask for help like this often, only about once a year.

We are reaching out to friends and supporters today to see if they would be willing to help us kick-off our end of the year crowdfunding campaign.

We are trying to raise a total of $10,000 to support our Youth Entrepreneur Mentorship Program (YEMP). YEMP has been creating jobs and offering skill-building opportunities to teens living in Fort Greene & Clinton Hill for over a decade. This will be our 11th years and we have 21 days to raise $10K.  Is this another cause that you can help us with? Would be willing to share our info to support our local youth?

If possible, please let me know if you can help sharing. We are trying to reach our weekly goal of raising $2K by Monday, December 11th.

Here is the crowdfunding campaign website:

Help Stop Re-Zoning! Hearing tonight – Tuesday 2/20/18 (6PM) Brooklyn Boro Hall

The City of New York is attempting to rezone parts of Fort Greene in favor of developers which would endanger the current protective zoning laws and our historic districts.
A proposal and ULURP Application by a developer requests that the protected blocks be rezoned as an extension of the Special Downtown Brooklyn District. This would allow taller buildings and increased bulk density changes. We need to fight this.

Please help ensure that the voice of our community is heard by attending the Borough President’s Public Hearing on Tuesday Feb. 20, 2018 at 6pm at the Courtroom at Brooklyn Borough Hall at 209 Joralemon Street, Brooklyn, NY.
